Hi,
like many others I am trying to run wow with wine, but unlike many others, it doesn't really work
Already tried to fix with this Howto:

Nevertheless, I get to the login (all behind is red, no image like it should be) and to the character selection (only buttons visible, but no labels on them). I even get into the game, seeing the panels, but the screen is...you can't see anything. menus are completely without text.
direct rendering is active; compiz is not installed.
my system is debian lenny (current updates), wine 1.0-rc1. I "installed" via copy & paste from Windows
wow version is current, did not try before.
any idea?

I see it often - users ask for solving graphics problems with Intel, ATI
and other gfx cards. However, most of successful stories come from Nvidia
cards users. This is no Nvidia promotion, but description of reality. For
example, my son is running WoW in wine with just a few glitches, which you
will not notice until somebody, who knows the game from windows, will tell
you the difference, with Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS card.
Intel does a great job with their open source drivers, but maybe the
card hardware itself or the drivers don't contain functionality, which is
necessary for the games. ATI cards are OK in hardware, but their Linux
drivers are totally broken. It's sad but it seems that just Nvidia takes
enough care of us, Linux users, and issues drivers for their cards, which
generally work well.
