Steam chugging exsessive ammounts of cpu

It's taking about 50%~ just started.
wine 0.9.59 on ubuntu hardy tried tweaking winecfg and ingame resolutions GL/D3D renderer etc. (for cs 1.6)
Other games work fine.

Yeah it does that on games page or when it's updating games. You should create a link for your game on the desktop and start it that way. Or close steam window when you starting a game.

Isn't Steam required to play games etc? ok thanks i'l try that.
if i close down steam cs quits. couldn't do that.
