InstallingHi MS Java

Post by mhdbnoimi »

Hi All,

I tried to install MS java as mentioned in this article but it didn't install although I followed the 8 steps exactly!

Note:
I copied and replaced advpack.dll (from windows 98 second edition) c:\windows\system to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32 and ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system

but it didn't fix the problem!

Could you please help me, I can't listen to my lectures because they recorded by Linktivity Player which needs MS Java.

I got tired from using virtual machines (VirtualBox) every time I need to study I want to use wine on my ubuntu.

Have you asked the Linktivity authors if they have a version compiled
with a currently supported Java, e.g. Sun's Java 6?

If they haven't, then its about time they released one. MSJVM reached
EOL in June and is no longer supported by Microsoft.

Sure, I asked them and they answered me that they don't planning to use SUN JVM although i notified them that MS will no longer support MS Java.

The problem here that my faculty uses their old products, for I can't deal with this issue without running MS java on wine. For that I feel glad when I read wiki article which it explains the for running MS Java (http://wiki.winehq.org/NativeMsJava?hig ... %28java%29) so could you please help me in this issue.

I know that my request is absolutely stupid but I forced to deal with MS java.

Anyway, you can check out (in link down here) advpack.dll file if you want to help me.
