I got Sims 3 to install using the retail DVD (using the no-cd patch) and everything works great UNTIL I quit the game or it crashes.
When I try to restart the game I just get :

That last messgae scrolls on as long as I am running the game and Sims never starts. If I reboot my computer , it launches fine 1 time.

Hmmm maybe try killing wineserver (wineserver -k) before starting Sims?
