I am not into games (yet?...). Anyway, I am running a dual head configuration (Xinerama, "intel" driver, Kubuntu Gutsy), and I am noticing a quite strange behavior in the Office 2003 applications (Word/PPT/Excel) that may be related:
When I am on Screen 2, everything is normal. When I am on Screen 1, every time I click on a menu something strange happens: the menu shows up, but the entire rest of the screen goes grey. That means even the window you are working on is completely disappearing. When the menu closes, everything goes back to normal.
Under Xinerama, only one of the two screens is OpenGL-capable. I just confirmed using glxgears that this is actually Screen 2. If I go back to 0.9.58, the MS Office menus work fine on both screens.

Is that related to what you described? (I realize that dx is not OpenGL.)

Did you killed/disabled/uninstalled/removed pulseaudio?

First of all, there is no such Wine version. Take a closer look at what 'wine --version' prints.

Why would you install native dx9c? Have you tried actually removing everything (mv ~/.wine ~/.wine-old) then just installing the game?

Ubuntu hardy is in a strong update period so maybe but i tried also to desactivate audio drivers in wine settings and i still had my D3D issue

Sorry i fixed that point

i first update wine version , keeping my .wine as it was but my game didn't work any more
then i tried to reinstal directx but nothing changed
then i did a

Code: Select all

rm -fr ~/.wine
rm -r ~/.local/share/desktop-directories/wine-*
rm -r ~/.config/menus/applications-merged/wine-*
rm -r ~/.local/share/applications/wine/
Then i reinstalled wine and i tested the game with a clean install but as i thaught the game invited me to install Direct x

So i did following this script that used to work fine under wine 0.9.58
http://howto.landure.fr/gnu-linux/insta ... -avec-wine

But nothing work at this point, from D3D test to launching my favorite game

Thank you for your quick answer
