Ubuntu9.04 & Office 2007 Pro etc...

Post by prime2009 »

Just wondering if anyone got this working, I only need to use this because openoffice does not feature some of the options I use at university with office2007 esp with the database and graphing tools which seem to be too different and lacking sometimes in openoffice.

That and the fact I need doc & docx (esp) support with bring the work too and from Uni so can't goto open office format.

Ok now thats said, here is the issue, so far with fresh wine (latest) my install gets to 2/3rd complete and this happens.

Code: Select all

....
err:msidb:msi_table_load_transform no matching row to transform
err:msidb:msi_table_load_transform no matching row to transform
err:msidb:msi_table_load_transform no matching row to transform
err:msidb:msi_table_load_transform no matching row to transform

err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x7e5e6ef8 "handle.c: MSI_object_cs" wait timed out in thread 00cc, blocked by 0059, retrying (60 sec)
fixme:hook:IsWinEventHookInstalled (32773)-stub!
fixme:ntdll:NtPowerInformation Unimplemented NtPowerInformation action: 16
.......

I have tried all the guides I can find so far. any tips on things I could try to resolve this 2/3rd way install issue?

But seems know-one has a clue yet so to speak. Bit of a shame.

The only workaround for that is to downgrade Wine to install office.

Install in 1.1.16 then upgrade. Follow the intructions in the AppDB for overrides after installing.

While basic functions in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint work pretty well, many advanced functions don't.

FYI, Open Office 3.0 can open docx files and save in doc format. You can even set the default file format to doc.

What happens to Microsoft office 2000, if I download Microsoft office 2007 onto my computer? I recently purchased the Microsoft Office 2007 for my home PC but I'm thinking about downloading it to my work PC since we're still using 2000. But I'm afraid of what would happen if I add the 2007... Will it delete or over ride the 2000 version? If so, is there a way I can download it without that happening?

Read the manual. Most likely yes.
