I have a Sierra cd with KQs games whose files predate Windows 95. I installed the cd with wine:
$ wine /run/media/USER/SierraCD/setup.exe
and the application appears in the Wine=>Programs=>Sierra folder of the start menu.
When running on of the apps in the menu it tries to install one of the games from the cd. Two erros appear:
1) This version of Video for Windows does not run on Windows NT (gives the same answer with Windows 98 or 2000 selected)
2) Your current display driver is not supported by this game. You can install a different driver by selecting the appropriate options from the control panel.
You may also exit Windows and install and play the game under DOS.
But when running under Dosbox it says: "This program requires Microsoft Windows."
So, which is it?
DOS or Windows
Re: DOS or Windows
Windows versions prior to 95 were not full operating systems; they were running in DOS. For apps/games from that era, your best bet is to install Windows 3.x in DOSBox and install your app/game in that. https://ywww.dosbox.com/wiki/Software:Windows3x
Re: DOS or Windows
Since I don't have Windows 3.1 one solution is to install dosbox-x which is available in AUR. Another solution is ScummVM, which was not working because my Game 3D Renderer, in the Graphics tab, was set to <default> instead of Software.
The link you gave has an extra "y" but I figured it out.

Re: DOS or Windows
For old Sierra adventure games I recommend ScummVM, it makes it simple to setup and adds lots of quality of life improvements to those old games.
