Wine app not showing up after installation

I've been trying to download Wine recently (this is my first time) but it doesn't work as shown in the tutorials I've seen so far. I think I'm doing something wrong. This is the process I follow:

I visit this link https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/releases
Then I click on this link https://dl.winehq.org/wine/source/9.x/wine-9.6.tar.xz
After downloading, I extract the file using Archive Utility but then the only file that shows up is wine-9.6, which only contains other files but not the actual application

I have also tried downloading the 9.0 version but the same thing happens. I'm currently on Sonoma 14.1 on a Macbook Pro 16GB using an M1 chip. What am I doing wrong?
