I started with a brand new install of Kubuntu 22.04 LTS and I followed the instructions on winehq.org and I got an install however there were some very cryptic messages after some of the commands suggesting that all had not gone exactly as it should have. Then I tried to in stall a program that requires windows 98 to install and windows 98 isn't even listed as an option, xp was the last one on the drop down. However, when I search I see some posts suggesting that I should be able to choose windows 98. I am willing to reinstall a different version of Linux and try again if that will get me what I need. I'm not a programmer but I have worked in naval aviation maintaining complex avionics systems so I know how to follow instructions. Any suggestions are more than welcome.

ps I did follow the instructions for enabling 32bit and creating a prefix but still no joy.
