Wine problem with GL and directx 9.0

Post by lupos »

I've got wine 0.9.57 and installed directx 9.0 but it seems doesnt work.
I've installed new ati drivers, new audio drivers.
I've got Ati X1600 mobility with 256MB RAM, 1GB RAM, Core 2 Duo T5600.
When I try to play at Assassin's Creed i got an error:

Code: Select all

fixme:d3d_shader:shader_glsl_load_constantsI >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_OPERATION (0x502) from glUniform4ivARB @ glsl_shader.c / 279
there is no video at all.
My linux Distro is: SLAX.
thx for help.

Wine has it's own implementation of DirectX 9. What video card you have? Note that ATi's drivers do not provide enough functionality to run most modern games on Wine. In one word - forget it.

Sorry. I'm not clear. Is there a question here or is this responding
to some other thread for which you haven't included the original?

Thanks,
Mark

Sorry my misstake I should edit my post not sending replay, I don't know what could be wrong in confugiration or maybe sth else with WINE. My technical parametrs are optimal for Windows configuration and I thought I also be able to play in Linux, but unfortunently I got error.

Ok, so I'm still confused. Are you talking about a game that you can
play in Windows but doesn't work in Linux? If so what game? Assuming
it is an app is there an AppDB page that you can point us to?

Please remember that we cannot see your PC from here so we know only
what you reveal to us. Sa far it seems quite sketchy! What distro of
Linux are you using? what version of Wine?

good luck,
Mark

How did you tested the dx9? What told you that the fact your hardware runs on windows it have to run the same way on Linux? Did you ever heard that drivers might be different on those two OSes?

But back to the original question:
lupos wrote:When I try to play at Assassin's Creed i got an error:
If you look on AppDB you will find only people with nVidia cards got it to work. Which tells you all the story - your HW in combination with drivers are not enough to get this game to work on Wine.

This seems to be a very common error message across a lot of games,
not just yours. Some people suggest they've gotten other games working
better by editing OpenGL settings. (I guess that's what they are
editing...) The game has a couple of entries in the AppDB:

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... &iId=11069
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... ngId=21674

It seems to me *most* folks are saying the game isn't playable yet. In
a related thread Codeweavers has a demo available for Crossover Games.
I looked at their compatibility list and Assissin's Creed is not
listed but maybe it would be worth a try downloading their product and
seeing how it does?

http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxgames/

I've not tried it myself yet.

Yes, in the past this was true but (recently) this was improved and now
edited posts are sent to the list so this isn't a problem anymore.
