Hi,
Earlier today I installed Steam in PlayOnLinux on the latest daily build of Ubuntu 18.04. Everything seems to work fine except for the web browser. Whenever I try to visit any site with it (the store page, my profile, etc.) it just shows a black screen. I know it's not an internet connection issue because I can still download games from my library without any issues. I figured I might be missing a package so I googled what engine the Steam browser uses but found no results. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Liam
Steam Web Browser Not Working
Re: Steam Web Browser Not Working
@ljcoogan
PlayOnLinux has very poor support. Updates to the install script's are incredibly infrequent. I'd highly recommended avoiding this badly maintained Wine front-end. Lutris is a far better option - if you feel you have to use a front-end for Wine.
See: WineHQ AppDB: Game Tools / Steam [1]
Running Steam, with CEF sandboxing disabled, is highly recommended - see [1].
As is the suggested overrides to run Steam with Windows XP compatibility - see [1].
