Hi, I'm running Windows application on Wine on a Lubuntu VM. The sole purpose of the application is to be a server for some old hardware.
The application works almost perfectly under Wine. The only problem is that the first time the application launches, it pops up an error saying "Microsoft Excel Driver (.xls) not found". If I close the popup, the application works normally.
If I don't close the popup, about half the time the application won't actually do anything.
I was wondering if there was a simple way of fixing the missing driver error. I'd rather not have to buy an Office license just for this (would that even work?).
I tried installing Libre Office (since it can read Excel files) but it was no use.
Any ideas?
Microsoft Excel Driver (.xls) not found
Re: Microsoft Excel Driver (.xls) not found
Does the app do that on Windows? If so, it's not a Wine issue.
Re: Microsoft Excel Driver (.xls) not found
I honestly wouldn't know, all the Windows machine I've tried it on have had Office installed, so presumably the driver was included.
