Stronghold Kingdoms with Wine on Ubuntu

Hello all, I want to start using Ubuntu 100% , but I have this game ( Stronghold Kingdoms ) and I have to get it into Ubuntu.

I have tried to search for solutions, and spent a lot of time searching and trying to understand something on how to solve the problems with it.

The tests has arrived at this point: here

and I Don't know what to do to solve this. Please I need someone good with these, on helping me solve this... doing this will get more people on ubuntu, and I know a lot of people who can't play this game, because everyone has something to use the extra-time.

The most recent test report in the AppDB is almost a year old. My first suggestion would be to test it in the current development release of Wine. If http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23934 is still present, try the patch in that bug report.

So I have finally installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and I have installed Wine on it with these commands executed from the terminal:

 sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa
 sudo apt-get update
 sudo apt-get install wine1.6
 sudo apt-get install winetricks

After that, I have, installed Stronghold Kingdoms client from:
https://www.google.it/url?sa=t&rct=j&q= ... 1339,d.bGQ

The installation starts by asking about the license and after, it is going to ask me if I want to install Microsoft DirectX Components, Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable and if I want to Create a desktop icon.


I have chosen NEXT and then the installation Start. After the full installation, the game is going to update himself until the last version of the client.

When I try to start him (after all updates have finished) he is going into infinite loop: “open&close&open&close , to infinite times” I have to stop him by start him again.

You don't patch the game. You have to patch Wine's source code before building. That patch is pretty old, so it may not apply to current Wine.
