Problems running automotive service manual software

Post by Dillon Holeman »

I've got a disc image of some automotive service literature that I'm trying to run. It is basically a digital collection of the factory service manuals for a particular make covering a range of years.
All of the content is on the disc (image) in several .arc files. There is a browser that you install with "setup.exe" which lets you access and navigate through the data. Only the browser is installed on the computer: The content remains on the disc (or image in my case), so you need to have the disc in the drive to access the manuals.

I've mounted the image and it shows up as a CD-ROM labeled "D:\" in winefile. I ran "setup.exe" and it went through the installation process from start to finish although there may have been some error messages along the way. The installer created a new directory with the .exe file to launch the browser, among other things. When I start the browser, the proper window/interface pops up and displays the home screen, but none of the buttons/links work.

Here's the log of everything that happens after starting the browser:

I'm guessing that these two are the ones that everyone will point to:

Code: Select all

p11-kit: couldn't load module: /usr/lib/pkcs11/p11-kit-trust.so: /usr/lib/pkcs11/p11-kit-trust.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I've poked around online and it looks like it's related to some sort of security/authentication voodoo, which is beyond me at this point.

My questions at this point are:
1) What are these missing modules for?
2) Why does this software need them?
3) Is it odd that this software would need to use them? (Should I be concerned that something malicious is going on?)
4) Is it odd that my computer is missing this stuff?
5) How do I correct the problem. (I'm guessing I can just find the stuff I need through yum.)
6) Should I address this issue first, or should I go back and see what comes up in the log during the software installation?

I'm using Fedora 19. I installed the software in a new win32 wineprefix (It's older software dated 2003).

Thanks!

Dillon Holeman you did not mention wine --version 1.6 or greater would be a good idea.

The two you picked out is unlikely to be a problem at all. As you said they are mostly encryption related. Lot of programs use them. Even worse a lot of windows programs call interfaces that require setting them up then never use them. This is even true under windows.

All the unimplemented ieframe stuff is more likely your problem. Support in this area has increased over the releases of new versions of Wine.

Next step tell us what version wine you are using.

Thanks for the reply. I'm running Wine version 1.7.5.

Does anyone have any suggestions, or do I simply have to wait for the unimplemented stuff to be implemented?
