Diablo 2 through Wine?

I was wondering if someone could help me with installing Diablo 2 through Wine. I've followed the instructions found through this walkthrough:

It has all installed fine, I have all the files there, however, when I run the game through the .exe file my screen doesn't show the game interface. What happens is that the screen becomes fragmented with random graphics and the Diablo 2 Menu comes up flickering in the background of this. I'm not sure what to do to fix this, or if there is a fix, because I'm relatively new with Wine.

If anyone could help me it would be much appreciated, I miss this game a lot!

P.S - I'm running 10.8.5 on a Macbook Pro.

So I used the window command (command + control + a) while this flickering was happening and it put d2 into a window mode. It plays perfectly this way, however, when I get to cutscenes throughout the game and sometimes entering and exiting the game, it sends the windowed mode back to fullscreen. Is there a way to toggle it so that it always plays in windowed mode?

I have it working fine unfortunately I cant remember my exact steps when i installed for it to run correctly.

The only thing i do remember is that i patched it with the latest patch which also removes the cd check from here
