Stopping Explorer.exe

Post by MoveV »

This might be a stupid question but... Is there a way to stop explorer.exe from running every time I open a program?
I don't want it to take control of the program like draw window borders or minimize into a little icon.
I'm currently using wine-1.7.2.
Thanks!

No, but what it sounds like is that you don't want your window manager to control/decorate windows. You can stop that by unchecking the relevant boxes on the Graphics tab in winecfg.

I tried what you said but it didn't do any good. I'm was trying to run a desktop shell I found for windows but it said not run explorer.exe before running it first.
Sense explorer.exe seems to always run when you open a program I thought it was causing most of problems I had. I managed to compile Wine without any data in explorer.exe and found out that it wasn't the problem.

I'm just going to try something else.
Thanks for your help though!
