Ableton Live 9 not recognizing Push controller on start-up

Post by redboss »

Hello friends, as the subject line indicates, i am having trouble getting Ableton Live 9 to recognize my Push controller on start-up like its suppose to. Ableton Live 9 works well with no issues at the moment but for whatever reason when i plug in the controller nothing happens. The controller says "please start live to play" but when i start Ableton nothing happens, it still says "please start live to play". I extremely noob when it comes to this stuff (partially attributed to the fact that i just started using Linux less than a week ago) so how i even got this far is a miracle. Anywho, any assistance you'd be willing to give would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I am using wine 1.7.1 on Linux Ubuntu 13.04, if you need additional information just let me know!

Does the controller work in Ubuntu? Your hardware has to be working in your OS for Wine to use it.

I think that the issue is USB pass through to wine.
Did you set the good rights on your usb device? Have you looked at http://wiki.winehq.org/USB ?

By the time, maybe you succeed to fix this issue?

abique you are on the wrong track. Completely

Ableton Push is a MIDI device. Its fully controlled by MIDI.

dimesio you were close.

redboss you may need jackaudio and wineasio to get to work properly. Using pro grade audio software with pro grade audio hardware gets complex using wine very quickly. redboss you have done a very good job of diving straight in the deep end.

Most hardware must work with Linux before you have any chance of it working with wine redboss. That Ableton Push is a great bit of hardware. I wish I had one.

That's great and bad at the same time, how do you write on the screen using midi?
And then the sensivity of the pads are up to 127?? With the Maschine from Native instruments you have a sensitivity of 4096 if I remember well.

Anyway this means that push works well on Linux?
Does it appears automactically as a MIDI controller?

And when digging to the forum, look what I found: https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php ... 2#p1449182
Push sends and receives standard MIDI messages. It can be used with other DAWs and devices, but it only sends plain notes and CC data, so you can't use the fancy note and drum modes that we have incorporated in Live.
