HTML rendering disabled, Wine not in GNOME Menu

Post by SlaughterDog »

I just installed Wine 1.1.0. I have tried previous versions in the past and got them to work. However, this time, when I try to launch iexplore, it doesn't install Gecko. The progress bar instantly fills up and I'm left with "HTML rendering is currently disabled". So I can't get Steam to work.

Also, I can't get my Wine in the GNOME menu. It doesn't even show up as a choice if I try to edit the menus.

I know I'm just some random person looking for help, but can anyone help? It would be much appreciated.

For the gecko problem try the workaround suggested in:

http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=1520

If the gnome problem is still there I'm afraid I can't help as I'm using KDE and the menu is fine. Note my installation is not a source install but an Ubuntu package upgrade from Wine 1.0 without uninstalling first.

Using the instructions at http://www.winehq.org/site/download-deb .

edit: Well there's my problem: I want Wine 1.0 as it's the stable version, yes? How do I just get 1.0?
edit again: figured it out.

So now, why won't it appear in my Gnome menu?
