Scanning

I have a dying laptop with XP which I have used to run a PrimeFilm 7250U film scanner. Has anyone succeeded in running this scanner with Wine?

Scanner support in Wine requires a working SANE driver. You can't install Windows hardware drivers in Wine.

Thank you dimesio, that's what I was afraid of. Looks like I'm going to have to investigate the virtual approach.

There is a database of supported scanners on http://sane-project.org - I did a quick search on "PrimeFilm" and the 7250U doesn't appear to be listed. Feel free to join the sane-mailinglist though. You might also want to get in touch with http://www.hamrick.com/
