Can i get DimageTransfer up and running? (Driver issue?)

Hi all,

I'm trying to get Dimage Transfer, an older Konica-Minolta Software for tethered shooting with the famous D7D, to work under Linux/Wine. The program iself works flawless, but cannot connect to the camera because the driver fails to install.

I found the following statement in the FAQ: "5.6. Can I use Wine to install drivers for my hardware?

No. With the possible future exception of some printer drivers, Wine requires your hardware to already be working on your operating system. The technical reason for this is that Wine, like most applications, runs in user mode and not kernel mode. "

Does that mean i will not be able to get that running because there is no way to install the driver? Is there an option to "install" the driver within the linux environment (besides it seems to be hidden within the installer.cab)?

I would love to get this program running because tethered shooting with darktable does not work with that specific camera because it is not supported. This forces me to use my stone-age Win2K installation ... not so good.

If that software requires the Windows driver, then no, you will not be able to use it in Wine.

How is the camera connected to your computer, and does Linux detect it when connected? If Linux detects it as a serial or serial over USB device, you may be able to get the software to work simply by symlinking the device to a com port. http://www.winehq.org/docs/wineusr-guid ... ure#AEN901

thanks for your response. If i put it into tethered shooting mode lsusb says: "Bus 002 Device 010: ID 132b:001d Konica Minolta" but that's it. I can access the camera as a USB Storage Device via PTP mode, but this does of course not help in this case.

My understanding of linux internals or command line tools is ... well, very limited at best. So, please help me if there's anything i could try.
