wine to install and run wordbiz.jar
I have done this before but I can't do it again.
things look different this time. I can't describe how except after installing wine with the terminal commands the wineglass is nowhere to be seen.it was there before . I used cinnamon before and am using MATE this time linux mint 16 Mate.
I cannot get the wordbiz.jar program to run from a gui desktop icon.
Anyone have help?
thank,
Nate

Not sure what you mean by this. Are you talking about menu icons for wine's builtin programs (winecfg, regedit, etc.)? Wine does not add those icons; they are added by some distros to their packages. If you don't see them, and expect to, contact your distro's package maintainer.tbrownarcher wrote: the wineglass is nowhere to be seen.it was there before .
Did you install it in Wine? If yes, did you also install Windows Java in Wine? What happens when you run it from the command line?I cannot get the wordbiz.jar program to run from a gui desktop icon.

Re: wine to install and run wordbiz.jar
I had it working before I reinstalled. Frankly I never knew how I did it.

I really don't know what you mean by install IN wine? I actually don't know about any of these questions. About the command line? Are you meaning the teminal? Yes i installed it with the terminal.
Thanks,
Nate

Re: wine to install and run wordbiz.jar
actually everything that i Have done with wine that actually worked was an accident. That must mean it's easy to use .
I don't know anything about it except that it's a compatibility layer or so i have read.
this is what i get when i try to install wine again from the terminal
<quote> nate@nate ~ $ sudo apt-get install wine1.4-i386
[sudo] password for nate:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
wine1.4-i386 is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 274 not upgraded.
nate@nate ~ $
</quote>
so It is installed but it may not becorrect I do not know
Is there some way to make the screen look like windows? I don't know that eiher .
thanks,
Nate

Re: wine to install and run wordbiz.jar
Your Wine version is outdated, but that's not the problem. The problem is that you don't know what you're doing. Programs have to be installed in Wine, just like they do in Windows, and what I was asking was whether you've installed the program you are trying to run, not whether you've installed Wine.
However, this may not be a Wine question at all. The .jar extension means the app is a Java program, and could possibly be run using native Java. In fact, if the wordbiz you are talking about is from http://www.isc.ro/, then they have a Linux version, and instructions on how to use it, and it has nothing to do with Wine.

dimesio:
you are very right i do not know what i'm doing . That's why I'm here.
the program is from isc.ro. I had it on my last install using wine . It worked great.
The Linux ver never works right i've installed it probably 10 different times with the Isc.ro instructions for linux ... it works but no time have I ever gotten everything to work in it.
The wine install I had on the last install worked fine ....
Now that you mention the linux ver maybe the trouble is that I'm trying to install the linux ver using wine??? Is that the problem?
