On which operating systems can I install Wine and Cresus ?

Hello, everybody,

Now I use Trisquel on a laptop (where there was Windows8). I had decided to use Trisquel because this operating system doesn't accept the proprietary softwares.

But I just began a formation in accountancy. The society use the proprietary software Cresus, that I can't avoid.

I want to learn Cresus, but not on a proprietary operating system (neither Windows, nor Mac). I would prefer a free operating system, possibly one of these.

I was told that I can use Wine to install proprietary softwares on free operating system.

Because I want to keep using Trisquel, I thought about buying one more laptop. I can buy laptop(s) with free BIOS and Trisquel already installed on. Then, on the laptop I use now (where there was Windows8), I can install another free operating system and use Wine and Cresus.

I will learn at the same time Cresus and GNUCash (free software for accountancy). Do you know other free softwares for accountancy ?

What are the formats of accountancy files ? open formats I would prefer. What are the closed formats ?

To answer the question in your subject line, Wine will run on Linux, MacOSX, and BSD. Trisquel appears to be just another derivative of Ubuntu, so you should be able to install Wine on that.

Your questions about accountancy software and file formats are not Wine questions, and don't belong on this forum.
