I am able to install and launch Thunderbird portable but the window is unresponsive about 98% of the time. My screen on Ubuntu begins to fade in and out frequently when it is running.
If I click or type anywhere there is a huge delay making it unusable. Is there any fix to this? I really need to run a pop3 client on multiple machine from a USB drive. I have the fastest USB 3.0 drive money can buy at the moment.
I move from machine to machine ( Ubuntu, CentOS, Windows XP, Windows 7 ), and simply want to pop the drive in and launch.
So far I have not been able to run Thunderbird on linux.

Wine version? If it's not the latest development release, upgrade. If it doesn't work in current Wine, post terminal output. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log
