update broke wine

i am currently running xubuntu 12.10, i had some updates and i applied them before the updates i had everything working like a charm now i can't get anything to work like it is supposed to. the version of wine i am running is 1.7.3 before that i had 1.6 and it was running smooth, is there anyway i can reinstall wine without having to reinstall all the programs i have and settings?

You can certainly try. If downgrading Wine does solve the problem, you should run a regression test and file a bug.

i tried to downgrade but i still get the same problems.

Try reinstalling your apps to a clean wineprefix.

yeah i tried that, i have wine and playonlinux as well. i can not use wine 1.6 or 1.7 they are both broken, 1.5 works but that is only on playonlinux.


update, i used a new prefix and installed a game i have running in playonlinux to test it out with 1.7.3 and still get problems with the graphics.

If the game only works when installed by POL, then POL probably either used a patched version of Wine or added overrides/tweaks you are not aware of. You'll have to ask for help figuring that out on the POL forum; they're the ones who would know what their scripts do. POL is not supported here.

i am trying to get just wine working with my system, i never had an issue until it updated. i had other things working perfect like imgburn and other programs, with imgburn i get nothing but bad burns and it's cost me a lot of disc.
