Firefox won't restart to install addons

Hi,

I'm trying to install some addons to Firefox in Wine, but every time I am prompted to restart to complete the install, it closes, but never restarts. When I reopen it and check, it hasn't completed the install process, and again gives the same prompt to restart.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Puppy Linux Lucid 5.2.8
Wine 1.5.0
Firefox 3.5

Note: Here are the answers to the questions I always get asked:

Why I'm using Puppy instead of 'other'... because I like it.
Why I'm using an old version of Wine... because it was in the repository.
Why I'm using an old Firefox... because it was the only 'gold' at the time.

Upgrade Wine; versions older than 1.6 are no longer supported. I also recommend upgrading Firefox; wine-gecko uses the gecko engine, and the current version is based on Firefox 21.

It did occur to me that upgrading Firefox might install the addons, so I found FF 18, which is also rated gold, installed, and it did install the addons in the upgrade process, so I have those two addons installed I was working on.

I'll have to test now and see if further addons will install correctly.

One of the addons I installed was for a restart button, so that I could manually restart FF if the addon manager couldn't do it. I tested it and it works in FF 18 in Wine.

Hopefully that's it. I'll test and report back.

I had a chance to install a new addon and see if Firefox would reboot and install. I added a French characters addon for my kid who is taking French...

It restarted and installed the addon without a problem.

I guess my problem is solved.
