Hi,
I have a Windows application which presents itself as a series of *.rar files. I unpack the first one, and inside there's an *.mds file, which under Windows, I would mount and then be able to install from it. However, this doesn't work under Linux as I can't mount it. I used mdf2iso to convert it to ISO, and can then mount it, but no luck: I can't install.
Wine: 1.4.1
Linux XUbuntu 12.10, 3.5.0-22-generic
Thanks.
Windows app in mdf and mds format
Re: Windows app in mdf and mds format
Try on Wine 1.5.22, maybe it will work.
Re: Windows app in mdf and mds format
What app is this, and where did you obtain the .rar files from?
Re: Windows app in mdf and mds format
Thanks. I tried the 'sticky' thread to upgrade (adding sources, sudo apt-get upgrade etc..), but it's still 1.4.1 which reinstalled.core wrote:Try on Wine 1.5.22, maybe it will work.

It's called ZobBase. It's not commercial, but was written by our in-house DBA, and usually only runs on our Windows laptops.dimesio wrote:What app is this, and where did you obtain the .rar files from?

Did you map the mounted iso as a cd-rom in winecfg?
There is definitely a 1.5.22 package for 12.10 in the ubuntu-wine ppa; if you are having problems getting your package manager to install it, ask for help on the Ubuntu forum.
