I'm wondering how you managed to overlook the warning in big red letters that the game update of 2011/10/08 broke the game for half of all users, not just on Wine, but on Windows, too. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... &iId=24512

ok so i copied over the whole steam dir. I was even forced to do as sound was partially broken on Vista. Now it needs vc2010 but i get an error while installing. I could probably extract and manually copy those files? Anyone knows where to place the files from within vcredist.exe?

vc2010 was very bad to install but finally works. game runs but textures have kind of gap around. texture clipping or so. anything to do about such?

Set it to 'Application setting' in any video control panel you use rather than setting it manually..

removing texture sharpening in nvidia-settings worked.
Now two more things:
- how to remove the mouse cursor
- how to remove the intro video, ie where is that:

I'm also having troubles getting it to run on my gentoo.

using a gtx560ti with the latest nvidia drivers for linux 285.05.09

it fails with the error:
Failed to create XAudio2 engine
which is described on the installation page.

so I try:
lieven@cthulhu ~ $ ./winetricks xact_jun2010
Executing w_do_call xact_jun2010
xact_jun2010 already installed, skipping
lieven@cthulhu ~ $ ./winetricks vcrun2010
Executing w_do_call vcrun2010
vcrun2010 already installed, skipping

so no help there.

the install was done using an msi-install of steam, not winetricks because it creates a new prefix. my install is in the only ~/.wine prefix.

any suggestions?
