I've installed Bentleys Microstation V8, all seems to be working but I can only open files as read only, (even files that I've just created).
Error message states
"File is currently in use by:
Username:
Computer:
Open as read only YES CANCEL"
Is this a matter of changing some setting for the file attributes, if so, where?

Don't use NTFS with Wine. It's drivers are defective and do not provide required functionality. Also you most likely mounted it read-only. Or with root only write access. In all cases contact your distro support - this is not Wine problem(s).davidp wrote:As far as I can make out (I am a sadly inept newbie) the file system is NTFS.What's the file's mode looks like? trying to run something on a Windows partition directly from Wine.
This is a bad idea - Wine can't access the Windows registry for that
installation of Windows, and Wine has its own ideas on what to do with
files, registry, etc. that aren't the same as what Windows wants to
do, and can mess up your Windows as well as not working properly in
Wine. You should always try to install apps in Wine itself.
