execute in win partition -> lose the sandbox effect?

Post by Netich »

hi, im amazed how wine works. i can even execute some games (tomb raider anivers., heroes V) from the XP partition with perfect results. But my question is: if i execute an infected exe this way, could it do more damage than from the wine menu (installed)?
Thanks

Potentially it can damage all files you have access to as a *NIX user. Regardless where they @. Usually running programs from windows partition is a really bad idea - ntfs driver has it's problems and you can damage your windows install beyond repair.
