Where is the PostSript file saved when Print to file is selected in the Print dialog?

Wherever you tell it to save it. The app should prompt you for a location when you select Print to file. Or do you mean printing to cups-pdf? Check /etc/cups/cups-pdf.conf to see where the files are being saved (and change it, if you want to).

Wine PostScript printing to file

I am never asked by the application; it just starts showing a progress bar in a little separate window which finishes and closes. The Print dialog window says "WINEPS Printer using CUPS". I looked in /etc/cups, but I couldn't find a file called cups-pdf.conf.

That doesn't tell me anything; all printer dialogs in Wine say that.

When you print to file, are you doing by checking a box that says "print to file" or are you selecting a printer from the list of installed printers? If you're doing the former, you should be prompted for a location to save the file. If the latter, you're probably printing to cups-pdf. It also sounds like your distro is using nonstandard locations, so you need to ask your distro where to find the files.

Well, it should tell you that there is nothing wrong with the print dialog regarding this, shouldn't it? Concerning "print to file", see my initial question. I will ask at Mepis Forum. Thanks and bye!

I tried it in a few apps, and it always prompts me asking where to save the file after I hit print...
