I'm sure the best way to support Wine is directly, through contributing code, money, or other resources.
but out of curiosity, if one were to purchase a third-party commercial solution, such as Crossover, Bordeaux, or whatever it is that Transgaming is offering these days, what would be the best choice in terms of contributing to Wine? I guess what I'm asking is which of the wine-based commercial solutions contributes back to Wine in the most beneficial way, whether it be through code contributed back to the Wine code base, or through other means.
most beneficial commercial wine software?
for some reason I can't edit my post...
I wanted to add that I did see in the FAQ that Crossover/Codeweavers seems to be very beneficial to Wine, while Transgaming not so much:

I wonder about the others, though. in particular Bordeaux, but I know there are others as well.

Codeweavers does great things or Wine, and make a great product... if you want to buy something, I'd say buy Crossover... I doubt any other company that sells anything based with Wine comes close to being as beneficial to Wine as a whole. While there are tons of things I'd change about Crossover to make it a much more worthwhile product for me, they do a ton of work to make Wine better.
Agreed. Codeweavers, the author of Crossover, employ half the guys who
write Wine. Nobody else even comes close to helping Wine as
much as Codeweavers does.
I use Wine a lot, and every time I do, I think about how much
Codeweavers has done for the project.
(Disclaimer: I have worked for a company that hired Codeweavers
to improve Wine.)
