Mouse changes
I had a Nancy Drew: Secret of the Old Clock installed and running under Wine 1.3.19 for my daughter. The mouse worked correctly. I upgraded to 1.3.20 and now the game loads and works properly, but when she tries to select a saved game, the mouse jumps around the screen uncontrollably when moved making it impossible to select the saved game.
I tried setting MouseWarp to disabled, but it didn't fix it.
Suggestions? How do I enable/disable the new clipping features?
Thanks.

Try toggling "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows"
(maybe playing with 'Emulate a virtual desktop' can help as well).
If that doesn't work, try reverting to 1.3.19, or report a bug.

Well, bad news. Neither the mousewarp settings or the new mouse capture setting in any combination do anything to alleviate the problem.
Buttons are supposed to highlight when being hovered over, but they rarely do. I find if I click multiple times, it will eventually stick. Mouselook aka mouse targeting also doesn't work.
I think I will be filing a bug.

I'm afraid that the mouse change in 1.3.20 isn't going to be a magic bullet sadly... It fixes SWAT 4 but I've found it's completely broken Dues Ex 1. The main menu can only be accessed by mouse and so is unusable. It was working fine with 1.3.19.
I'll try out some other Steam games to see what others are affected...
Using Winecfg to turn off/ on "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows" (for my Steam WINEPREFIX) has no effect and appears to do nothing. The mouse cursor jumps around erratically (in an identical manner) with the option checked or not.
I'll add that game to growing bug list
for 1.3.20...

The "Automatically capture mouse in fullscreen" option in winecfg was disabled when I experienced the problem initially. Enabling it did nothing.
A few details to note in case this is of any help in troubleshooting:
Initially my setting was "MouseWarpOverride"="disable". Mouse worked correctly when game initially started up and I was able to select the "Load a Saved Game" option off the main menu. Once the list of saved games screen appeared, the mouse cursor became uncontrollable. The cursor appeared to jump around the outer 1/4 of the screen (which seems strange -- I presumed mouse warp is supposed to clip the cursor in the center of the screen).
I then tried "MouseWarpOverride"="enable" which then made the mouse cursor behave incorrectly right at game startup.
So it seems that this option somehow enables itself under some circumstances even when the user.reg file has "disabled". Also it seems to me that for some games, particularly first person shooters, it would be desirable to be able to toggle this behavior (ie with some keyboard hotkey) so that you can have normal mouse-pointing behavior when accessing in-game menus and mouse warping/clipping behavior when navigating/playing the game itself.
I installed the game into a 1.2.3 prefix and everything is fine, so I'm debating opening a bug on this and considering just waiting a while for development of this new feature to settle down. It is, after all, the developmental version. Is there any real benefit to opening a bug except to harass the core devs?

It seems bug 27182 is related.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27182
I don't have a bugzilla account though to update it.
I guess this feature is one step forward, two steps back =(. Such is the nature of development.

Ok, as of 1.3.23, the I'm seeing behavior is as ertdfg22 described.
If I set "MouseWarpOverride"="disable" then the mouse immediately gets stuck on the first screen in the lower left corner after a little jumping around. If I set "MouseWarpOverride"="enable", everything appears to work fine on the first screen, but when I select "Load a Saved Game" then suddenly returns to the aforementioned "disable" behavior where the mouse jumps around briefly and gets stuck in the lower left corner. I can't load a saved game to see what the mouse behavior is in the game itself.
Downgrading to Wine 1.2.3 works fine.
Is the status of the new mouse behavior pretty much stable now? Should I open a bug for this?

I am not sure it's worth it. So many games are affected by the problem...ischou wrote: Is the status of the new mouse behavior pretty much stable now? Should I open a bug for this?
You can compile Wine 1.3.20+, from source, without the Xinput2 mouse patch and everything is fine and dandy (which I have confirmed with Deus Ex 1). The problem is actually caused by a bug in the X-Server code and how it reports the mouse position.
