tbx player and asymgrid.vbx

Post by aasdelat »

Hello, I've got wine 1.2 in ubuntu and try to run an english course for windows. It uses the tdk player and it runs ok, until i choose a lesson.
When I choose a lesson, a window appears with title "Add Extension" It's a file open type dialog, and in the field "File name", says "ASYMGRID.VBX". I navigate to "windows\system32" in the "C:" drive of wine, and find that file, select and open it, but then a new window appears with tile "Error in program" "winevdm.exe has found a serious problem and has to close".

What can be wrong?.

Thank you in advance.

First of all try upgrading Wine. Latest version is wine-1.3.14. If that won't help, post complete terminal output.

You might want to move that file to the same location as the executable
you are trying to run unless this is where the program expects to find it.

Thank you, vitamin, but I've got Ubuntu and want to keep in official distribution version of wine, if possible.

Thank you, James McKenzie, I'll try it and report the results.

DanKegel, the link is broken and I can't access it. Would you paste it again?. Thank you.

That link works fine here. As for that file being "similar," I think Dan just means that it also requires asymgrid.vbx, which according to the instructions on that site seems to be a DOS/Windows 3.1 thing that doesn't work in NT or later. So try setting your Windows version to something pre-NT. You may also need to install DOSBox, and if that's the case, you will have to upgrade to the latest development release to use Wine with it because DOSBox support was only added in 1.3.12 and is not in the stable branch.

Ploblem solved, but new one arises

Post by aasdelat »

Thank you all:

I've copied "ASYMGRID.VBX" to the system directory, and now, no message appears requesting for this file.

But now appears another message whith tilte "Error in program" and says:

The program winevdm.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We apologize.
This can be caused by a problem in the program or a fault in wine. Perhaps you want to check http://appdb.winehq.org for some advice about how to run this application.
If this problem is not present in Windows and hasn't been reported yet, you can report it in http://bugs. winehq.org.

I don't know if there is a solution for this.

What should I do?.
Thank you.
