Dragon Age 2 Demo
Dragon Age 2 Demo
Seems to work - though the mouse seems a bit wild,
maybe it suffers from bug 6971. And sometimes the
logo movie is still silent.
I had to do winetricks-alpha d3dx9_36 d3dx11_43 devenum
and you'll need the latest winetricks-alpha (20110222), since
I added the d3dx11_43 verb just now.
Easy way to download and install is
winetricks-alpha -q dragonage2_demo

Work here too, in general, but I get no sound. I'm on Debian, using the Ubuntu wine 1.3.14 maverickppa1_amd64 package.
Switching between OSS and ALSA, emulated and full doesn't change anything. SoundDisabled in the ini is set to 0 too. Changing the state of mmdevapi usage also doesn't change anything. I do get sound in Dragon Age: Origins.
Did you do anything special to get sound, perchance?

I have Steam DAO2-Demo crashing after bioware logo movie with "Unhandled page fault on read access". Also, logo still has no sound after winetricks-alpha d3dx9_36 d3dx11_43 devenum done.
I'm on ArchLinux x86_64 wine 1.3.14 with WINEARCH=win32, already tried clean WINEPREFIX and wine virtual desktop.
All the output I have is here:
Any advice would be very very much appreciated

I'm seeing no sound sometimes on the dragon logo movie,
too, haven't figured it out yet. Seems to depend on the machine.
And I saw one system that always crashed after the logo movie;
looking at the log with +relay,+seh I saw it was crashing not long
after looking in ~/Bioware/Dragon Age 2 Demo/Characters/*.* and not
finding anything. Deleting the Bioware directory somehow fixed
that.

Hi, I'm very new to Wine. I've been reading up on a lot and have spent at least 20 something hours trying to get this demo to work. XD
I'm mostly just copy/pasting what I see online. Getting results, but not really great ones. I really don't know what I'm doing...
I used to have the Wine that came with Winebottler, but that didn't work out so well for me. I couldn't install the new winetricks-alpha that I needed for this game to work. But I was able to install the game just fine.
I also tried Wineskin 2.0. Which is actually really nice and neat, but for some reason I couldn't open up the winetricks on the "Advanced" tab. I made sure that my wrapper and none of the folders it was in had spaces in them. But it still wouldn't open.
Now, I have Wine 1.2.2 installed through MacPorts. I got cabextract and installed all the necessary stuff like "d3dx9_36", "d3dx11_43", and "devenum". I am 100% sure they are installed. I have tried twice. I also made sure I got the right winetricks-alpha and renamed it to just "winetricks". That's definitely installed too.
My only issue now is, the game still says I don't have DirectX installed.
Did I miss a step? Or am I doing this all wrong?
To be honest, I would like to know how to do this through Wineskin, because I just like how it neatly handles everything especially for games and stuff... But I am willing to try a different way.
Thank you for reading.
