Theres no way to just be able to call it once? That seems like it might get annoying after awhile, but it seems to have done the trick. Thanks for all the help!!!

Everything worked great, got it all patched up no crashes, but now when I click the start game button it pops up an error message saying "file not found". No errors in the Terminal.

Nevermind it's just be being stupid again deleting files I shouldn't have. All fixed now.

I went and tried to run launcher.exe again, because sometimes that has let me get farther, but same thing happened, and this is what was in the Terminal.

Code:
Astrauks-MacBook-Pro:Runes of Magic Astrauk$ wine launcher.exe
Wine cannot find the FreeType font library. To enable Wine to
use TrueType fonts please install a version of FreeType greater than
or equal to 2.0.5.
To get rid of this error in Snow Leopard type the following to tell
Wine where to find the font configuration files (Leopard and Snow
Leopard include fontconfig.)

export FONTCONFIG_FILE=/usr/X11/lib/X11/fontconfig/fonts.conf

Then run your program.

Ok new error, when patching the game a program called other.exe is called (not anywhere in the game files) but an error occurs and it has to close, this leads to the game thinking and saying that the patch is installed (yet when it goes to match against the server version, its not the right version. Here's the stuff from the Terminal, any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Code: Select all

Ok new error, when patching the game a program called other.exe is
called (not anywhere in the game files) but an error occurs and it has
to close, this leads to the game thinking and saying that the patch is
installed (yet when it goes to match against the server version, its
not the right version. Here's the stuff from the Terminal, any help
would be greatly appreciated!!!

Code:
Astrauks-MacBook-Pro:Runes of Magic Astrauk$ wine patch_3.0.7.2322.en_3.0.7.2335.en.exe
Wine cannot find the ncurses library (libncurses.5.4.dylib).
There's your answer, on line 2 of the crash report. Install that
library. If you don't know how, ask on your OS support forum.

But he's on a Mac. ncurses is installed by default. This is in fact the
ncurses that is installed in /usr/lib in 10.6.

@Astrauk: That's not right. dyld should be looking in /usr/lib. Try
setting DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/lib, like so:

export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib

and see if that fixes it. Somehow, I doubt it will, though.

Ok well it got rid of the error message but other.exe is still crashing. Here's the Terminal output.

Chip:

He may also need a LD_LIBRARY_PATH statement (got to figure out why this is so on a Mac still):

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib:/<where you installed Wine>/lib

as well since Wine is basically a Linux application.

Ok well it got rid of the error message but other.exe is still crashing. Here's the Terminal output.
Huh... We need some more info. Try compiling Wine with -gstabs (i.e. set
CFLAGS when configuring). Then try running it again and posting the output.

From what we've got it looks like it's crashing in shell32's
autocomplete support. I'll bet the program is relying on behavior that
isn't implemented yet. Can't be sure without that additional info, though.

So would I just do "./configure -gstabs" from my wine source? (like when I used "./configure" to install wine?). Thanks.

Not quite. You would actually say:

./configure CFLAGS=-gstabs --x-includes=/opt/X11/include
--x-libraries=/opt/X11/lib

from your Wine source. (If you'll recall, the --x-includes and
--x-libraries flags are so Wine can find the OpenGL binary.) Then you
should have proper debug symbols.

He may also need a LD_LIBRARY_PATH statement (got to figure out why this is so on a Mac still):
Shouldn't be. The dynamic linker certainly doesn't care about it. (Look

we've entered the debugger.

How many Linux-ported-to-Mac apps do you know that depend on
LD_LIBRARY_PATH? :)

I would love to agree with you, but when I build Wine, it has to have a LD_LIBRARY_PATH or the dylibs cannot be found. If I could figure out why this is so, I might be able to fix it. I agree that the proper thing to do is DYLD_LIBRAY_PATH but that has not worked, yet.

None, except this one. If you doubt it, I can send you screen shots where the library files are not found. This is also true of the Fink build, so I'm not alone with the problem.

Again, this is weird and maybe it is my system and not Wine. However, adding the line should not hurt anything.

Ok so I deleted wine and everything, then I reinstalled with the configuration you posted. I ran the setup for RoM and everthing was working, after it had finished installing and chose to not automatically go to the patch screen, I inputed the three commands you guys gave me to fix the errors that were there and now it gives me an error when I try to start up the Client, so I deleted the RoM folder and decided to reinstall, I went to the install file but it's giving me the same error. This is the error in the Terminal. What's wrong?

Code: Select all

Did configure tell you X wasn't found? (Look at config.log in the Wine
source directory.)

I looked in there and I didn't see anything that said wether it was found or not. Do you know where it might be in the config.log that would say that. Should I post the config.log somewhere and provide a link here?

Astrauk:

I have a Wine source build for OS X that works:

http://code.google.com/p/osxwinebuilder/

If you're compiling from source, you'll need to set some environment variables before running configure (these assume Xquartz is installed into /opt/X11, the default location for Snow Leopard/10.6):

Code: Select all

export CPPFLAGS="-I/opt/X11/include"
export CFLAGS="-g -O2 -arch i386 -m32 ${CPPFLAGS}"
export CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
export LDFLAGS="-framework CoreServices -lz -L/opt/X11/lib -lGL -lGLU"
Then re-run configure and rebuild with make.

Once you've built Wine, you'll need to run it with the proper DYLD environment variables. You'll need to do this every time; you should be able to run Wine from the source directory to test as well should you not want to install it:

Code: Select all

export DYLD_FALLBACK_LIBRARY_PATH="/opt/X11/lib:/usr/lib"
./wine blah.exe
DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH is not the proper environment variable, and will cause issues loading shared libs; DYLD_FALLBACK_LIBRARY_PATH is the proper environment variable.

LD_LIBRARY_PATH is not used on Mac OS X unless you've somehow replaced your dynamic linker and C library with the ones from Linux. James is incorrect unless he's somehow done that, screwed up his own system (which is likely), or someone in the Fink project is playing shenanigans (which I seriously doubt).

LD_LIBRARY_PATH will not hurt anything but it is simply not used on OS X; you can set it to your heart's content but it's not going to help anything at all. Setting DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH to anything (i.e., not leaving it blank) will probably cause failures in finding shared libraries. Use DYLD_FALLBACK_LIBRARY_PATH and see the dynamic linker manpage (man dyld) for library search order. -r

It would look like this:

X 32-bit development files not found. Wine will be built
without X support, which probably isn't what you want. You will need
to install 32-bit development packages of Xlib/Xfree86 at the very
least.

but then configure would have failed, I just realized.

Did you make sure you 'sudo make install'ed Wine? There should be a file
'winex11.drv.so' in /usr/local/lib/wine.

Also, is X running? It should start automatically. When XQuartz
installs, it tells you to log out then log back in so X gets started
automatically. Did you do that?

Try setting WINEDEBUG to +relay so we can see if winex11.drv.so is
getting loaded. The log from this is going to be really long, so post it
to a pastebin-type site (like, well, Pastebin).

No, that's good. That's what you want.

Try taking Ryan's suggestion.

Ok so using XQuartz version of Terminal got rid of those errors and everythings working fine, I'll go reinstall the game, then try patching it and post the Terminal output here since I've configured wine with the CFLAGS -gstab thingy.

Nevermind same error, I'll try rwoodsmalls solution, but I don't get it, before it was working perfectly, why does it stop working all the sudden when I configure wine with the CFLAGS thing?

I'll take the second. I know that I have installed gcc from Fink, but that should not require the use of LD_LIBRAY_PATH on any output files.
LD_LIBRARY_PATH will not hurt anything but it is simply not used on OS X; you can set it to your heart's content but it's

Actually, it should not do anything but take up space in memory.

libraries. Use DYLD_FALLBACK_LIBRARY_PATH and see the dynamic linker manpage (man dyld) for library search order.
I'll do so. In the meantime, I'll have to backup the system and find my Snow Leopard disks :)

I really would like to do a full clean out anyway for various reasons. Have to take a long vacation to get everything proper and to reload Fink and its dependencies. Not enough hours in the day to make it work.

BTW, we could have a private conversation on this rather than clutter up the Wine Forums and vitamin would appreciate it.

So I followed rwoodsmalls page and instructions and everything and it's downloading and installing now, but how do I do the CFLAGS thing if it's not compiling from a source? Is there a diffferent command for it or something? or does it come pre-done?
