Silkroad Online

QUESTION: Did Wine do an update around July 31st? Or is this a problem with Silkroad?

Ever since an Update on July 31st on Silkroad I haven't been able to play that game. I open up the client and I get to the start-up screen, and when I select start, hackshield pro will come up like it's supposed to, but when it's disappears, I'll be stuck at the start up window without a start button. I'm not the only one with this problem.

1.3.0 came out on July 30th. As to whether you actually updated Wine, it's your system, you should know what you've done to it.

Open a terminal and type

Code: Select all

wine --version
to check what version of Wine you're using.

Crossover isn't supported here; they have their own support forum. Ask there.

Nice hospitality, I came here because Crossover uses wine right?

The Wine they use is modified, and updating Crossover is not the same as updating plain Wine. Support from them is included in the price of Crossover.

No, Crossover makes changes to the Wine code that we cannot support. They have their own (paid) support folks to find and eliminate problems running programs with it. If the problem comes from Wine, they feed back the fix to the Wine project and do on a daily basis to improve Wine.

Again, if you are using CrossoverGames, you have to go to the CodeWeavers support site and report it.

Comment: It is very odd that you would get a problem the day after the release of Wine 1.3.0 as they just finished incorporating Wine 1.2 code.

Silroad Online does not run anymore with Wine, whatever the version:
with playonlinux you could choose your wine version. Even I'm using the last or an older it doesn't matter, Silkroad does not complete, it stops at the same point described by DOCoSPADEo:

Looks like lots of people are having problems:

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21535
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... n&iId=5391

Perhaps it needs a Garbage rating in appdb now?

The bug report is for 1.1.37, while the two most recent AppDB test reports are for 1.2, and both rate it platinum. I would expect a garbage report to have been filed by now if it really affected lots of people. And it's not at all clear that the people with problems are actually having the same problem.

This does not change anything, same problem: I clik on start, see the silkroad banner/hackfield then it disappears, processor returns to 0%. After that you could only click on exit.

Where could I write a bug report?

I just noticed that you mentioned PlayOnLinux earlier; was the console output you posted from PlayOnLinux? If so, retest in plain Wine before filing a bug report.
