Is it possible to play games like grand theft auto 2 and ysflight simulator over a lan connection in order to have a multiplayer session?

Yes, or, it was when I used to play them at lans years ago.

Multiplayer support is on a game by game basis and you will have to
review the appdb page for each one to find out the state of its
support.
