Garmin Webupdater "runtime error"

Post by BeartoothHOS »

When I go from the Main Menu in Fedora 12 to Wine, to Programs,
to Garmin, to Webupdater, an error box pops up saying something (geek to
me) about a runtime error.

The box won't let me copy its text, or I'd paste it here.

What is wrong? Or what other info do I need to post, and how do I
get it?

Terminal output would be much more beneficial than a screen dump of a
runtime error. Start here:

Makes lots of sense; thanks! But here's what I get :

[btth@Hbsk2 ~]$ cd .wine/drive_c/Garmin/WebUpdater
[btth@Hbsk2 WebUpdater]$ WebUpdater.exe
Command not found.
* Downloading details about the software sources...
[btth@Hbsk2 WebUpdater]$

What did I do wrong? And where would it've downloaded to??
There's nothing relevant in /home/btth/Documents, and nothing at all
in /home/btth/Downloads. Nor do I see anything at all likely-looking
anywhere else in /home/btth ...

That gets me the same error box again, but no messages at the
prompt. (I waited a while, before I hit ^C.)

Make sure you close that box first.

Same result -- three times. (It's easy to be sure, because the
error box pops up on top of the terminal.) But I do notice a change in
the error box message : "This application has requested the Runtime to
terminate it in an unusual way."

Where would I find a log?

Then start with a clean wineprefix (or use a new one). Also make sure you don't have 64-bit Wine installed (as it was default on FC12).

Sorry. You're clear out of sight over my head.

Beartooth:

You have the X86-64 version of Wine installed. You need to install the
i386 version with all dependencies.

No he doesn't. If he did, it would say 'x86_64' instead of 'i686'.
