Problem installing Gecko
Problem installing Gecko
Hello,
I have just installed wine. In addition, I would like to install Gecko. So, following your instructions, I run the wine iexplore... command. Problem is that the Gecko installer keeps getting stuck at some point (My internet connection works fine at this time). Is there another way to install Gecko (maybe download it from somewhere)?
My box runs RHEL5 Linux BTW.
Cheers,
D.

This might also be worth noting if you have more than one wine bottle to manage:

Is there any reason Gecko isn't just included as part of Wine? This might also be worth noting if you have more than one wine bottle to manage:

IMHO it ought to be. I think it's at packagers' discretion now,Is there any reason Gecko isn't just included as part of Wine?

Actually this has happened to me before as well, sometimes it downloads, other times it doesn't... Where is gecko downloaded from when wine iexplore is executed in a terminal anyway? If it is being downloaded from sourceforge then the problem might be the server that is being used to download the file from. Some sourceforge servers just won't respond for me when I try to download files from them, I usually always have to switch the download server to Dublin, Ireland to get the file that I am trying to download...

seeing how to request it be included in the Ubuntu distro version by

(cc: to Scott Ritchie, who packages the debs - is there a licensing
reason or something for not including Gecko in the deb? Surely
aggregating an MPL package and an LGPL package isn't problematic?)

Scott Ritchie already has this on his (potential) TODO list (about 3/4 down under "Other"): https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ScottRitchie
