Office install: product key information is not accepted

Post by Jari Aalto »

[Please keep CC]

In Debian/unstable Wine 0.9.58:

- Install Office 2000 from standard install CDs.
- Give product key information during install

After install

- Start any office application (winword, powerpnt)
- A dialog box asking for product key information appears
- Fill in the required informatio form back of the CD

=> The dialog box vanished and is displayed again to ask the fill in
the information.

This information is correct, repeated 10 times in a row now. What
might be the trouble?

I have at least 2, maybe 3 or more different programs that intermittently lose/fail registrations.

I'm trying to solve this problem and I'm reporting the progress in the AppDB thread http://appdb.winehq.org/commentview.php ... adId=32046.
I'll post further information there as I make any progress.

The Wine version of msiexec.exe is certainly part of the problem, and this means that it will cause damage to quite a few other applications which rely on msi-type packages.

Charles Fuller.
