3D-games dosen't work
I'm trying to run Heroes of might and magic 5 tribes of the east, All 2d and direct draw graphics works fine but not 3D graphics.
Can some one tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I'm using Ubuntu 64 bit
on an Acer aspire 5020 laptop. I have an ATI 700x Graphics Card. I'm not using the ATI Drivers

Re: 3D-games dosen't work
Then what do you expect from Wine then? Wine needs fully featured non-broken video drivers. Oh and you have to disable compiz/beril/xglFredrik-Hussein wrote: I have an ATI 700x Graphics Card. I'm not using the ATI Drivers
Also have you followed the howto on AppDB page for this game?

That is problem # 2. Use the proprietary binary drivers.I'm not using the ATI Drivers

I've never been a friend of ATI (long live NVIDIA) but I'd assume if
you're not using the ATI Drivers, don't expect to get any kind of 3D
acceleration...
Just a thought anyways.

I didn't want to use the ATI drivers this time around because last time I used them wine didn't start the game at all.
humm no I haven't disabled compiz/beril/xgl
and yes I read up on this game and couldn't find an answer. Thats why I posted the Question here.
fine I'll try to install the ATI drivers again
Thanx for the help

3D-games dosen't work
Not WINE, other Linux games... NATIVE ones (quake 3 for Linux using
the icculus engine, Nexuiz, Tremulous, OpenArena, UT2004, TuxKart,
etc...)

yes it works fine. The Game Loads and I can "play" it but without seeing any thing. It's almost like Wine doesn't recognize my graphics card.

That's probably what you're doing wrong. AFAICT, nVidia and ATI cards dependI have an ATI 700x Graphics Card. I'm not

Right I don't have any other games at the moment so I can't really test them. But the game works not with full windows graphic and for some reason makes my PC a strange sound when it renders 3D graphics in Ubuntu.
And The game won't play in full screen mode and runs kinda slow for some reason.
Hey it runs at least so I'm not really complaining.
