Valve Hammer Editor Crashes

I run Hammer through Steam, it launches fine, however when I click New it brings up the camera/top/ottom thing then closes.
Any ideas? If it makes any difference i'm using Episode One engine.
According to the AppDB it works fine.

Wine version? What does terminal say? What video card and drivers do you have?
