World of warcraft shuts down

Post by dildhat »

Running openSUSE 1.11, gnome desktop and wine 1.1.9. (WoW patch 3.1.3)

WoW just shuts down after 5 - 10 mins. No errors, no warnings, no nothing.. There is no indications of a crash it just plain shuts down as if I'd hit alt+f4. Anyone having the same problem?

Have you tried the suggestions from the winedb page for stability that
might apply to your system, some of those might help. I would also
suggest moving up to a newer wine version, try 1.1.20.

Otherwise sending us some more info on your system might help: 32 or 64
bit, how much memory, video card and driver, etc.

Tried updating Wine and also had a look through the DB, no luck though, but thanks for the advice.

I'm running a 32bit system, 2gb ram, Intel Core Duo 1.6Ghz, Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 512mb (x11-video-nvidiaG02 180.51)

anyone have any ideas? It was running very stable until Monday afternoon. I had not performed any system updates before it happened, I have back rev'ed a few wine versions and ran both memory and disk tests to make sure they are working correctly and nothing has been able to fix it or show any progress. Is there anything more I can try or anything else I can provide?

all I can say, is I have wow running on both FreeBSD -CURRENT and
PC-BSD 7.1 running wine 1.1.22 and nvidia 180.60 drivers
I am not experiencing any of the problems that you are describing, the
only real problem I have is wow sets the pcm on my mixer to 0
but a mixer pcm 100 command after wow is started fixes that problem.

I know it isn't really much of a Help, but I just cant reproduce your
problem here and I have 4 copies of WoW running Everyday.

I spent some time yesterday trying to see if I could get WoW to shut
down and give me an error message in case any of it was helpful to you.
I'm sorry but mine was completely stable (an odd thing to be sorry for.
:P).

Just to check, are you starting the game with the opengl tag or running
it in d3d? I didn't see a tag in the start line of your error messages.
WoW is usually more stable in opengl.

I have ran it both with and without opengl to see if that made a difference and it didnt. The output I posted was after blowing away the Interface/Addons and WTF/ directories

Might have found a solution.. By a freak accident i discovered that my client stops shutting down when i log into a char and do a relog. Might not work for you, but it's worth a try.
