Hello,
in the AppDB i have seen, that FAKK2 is fully playable on wine.
After installing the game i started it and it runs really nice but it has no sound at all.
On the wine sound settings i have tested all sound settings and all give back a test sound but whatever i check - in the game there is no sound.
I haven't seen any error messages in terminal. Maybe there is something in the ingame terminal window (q3-based game) but i can't open the terminal, the key don't work.
Anybody has an advice how i can get the sound working on that game?
My system:
HP nx7300 notebook
Kubuntu Hardy 8.04
Wine from packages with apt-get, i think it must be 1.0
Game Version is 1.02
Hopefully somebody can help me out with that game ^^
Best regards
Dark

Update:
I let the game crash by choosing a resolution out of opengl sight and was able to look into the ingame terminal.
I found this:
------- sound initialization -------
Could not load mss32.dll - could not start sound system
Anybody know how to fix that missing mss32.dll stuff, indeed its in the games folder for dlls...

I would suggest to run the game from the terminal to get all wine output.
On the other hand, the version that's reported platinum is 0.9.52 so you could try that.
Anyway, I would give a shot first to the more recent wine version.
You can check which version you are using by going into winecfg.
Also, in winecfg there are different sound systems available. You should try changing it. Finaly, there is the infamous PulseAudio issues (see sticky thread), although this usually causes sound quality problems, not lack of a dll.

I tried to run from terminal as first aid off course but there is no fault output at all. When i set wine to a wrong windows version what is not supported by the game there is a fault but with correct version nothing about sound.
I installed half life and it runs fine with sound. Ok there is another problem (it freezes when i try to start a game, seems to be some kind of grafic issue but it starts fine with sound, with both systems alsa and oss.
I think its a kind of "ingame fault" because wine has no fault output, its the output of the ingame console what says cant load mss32.dll. Its q3-engine, maybe its same workthrough as getting et or q3 running with sound (oss-only) with that echo stuff?
I have wine v1.0
