Rappelz?

Post by Sadakazu »

Hi ho.
I tryed to install Rappelz on my ubuntu 9.
Installation was fine. But it woulnd start.
In AppDB i found a article about rappelz epic V and that there are trouble with the gameguard (hackshield).

Is it possible for the future to fix this problem? so that i can play rappelz on wine?

I've heard that protection apps like GameGuard will probably never work under Wine, so you'd have to find a hacked/non-GameGuard version of the game if you want to play it under Wine.

I'd say you're on your own with that one. Providing that sort of thing would be illegal, and using it would probably be, too, but hey, you bought it already, so whatever!

I asked our European GMs about a linux client. They will talk with the developer about it.

May the linux community can hope :)
But i think they would compile one ^^

Actually, that depends very much on locality. Here in the US, our laws
are quite draconian on the matter, but some other countries allow it
for interoperability (I believe the EU does, but not sure).

I live in the Netherlands, which is supposedly very free when it comes to those kind of rules, but I prefer to stay on the safe/legal side anyway.

Well, in our terms (germany) it isnt allowed to modify anything of the program and it isnt allowed to run rappelz without gameguard ;)

So the question about legal/safty side is resolved xD

I think i will install windows only for rappelz.
i'm glad about many new clutter on my hd xD *rofl*
