Application to run in proper resolution?

Post by DeusExM1 »

Im trying to run homeworld cataclysm, but im having 2 issues with it.

1. I cannot set it to my computers resolution. It only goes to 1280x1024.
I need to set it to 1680x1050, however i cannot set this in game. What to do?

2. the game seems to run a littly chopily. Is there anything i should enable in wine to make it better ? And if so where?

Thanks Dom

You can't set it to a resolution the game probably doesn't support. There are Homeworld & Homeworld: Cataclysm AppDb entries...

Make sure the resolution you want is present in the output from 'xrandr' command. If not, you'll have to configure your X server accordingly.

Hard to tell. Search AppDB for your game and possible work arounds.

I did not find much regarding resolutions in the appdb, i looked there before posting.

I did not make it clear what problem i was having the first time i posted.

When i run the game in "full screen" mode as configured in Wine, the game runs only in half the screen or so. the right side of the screen is still just my desktop. Thats why i was asking how to increase the resolution.

But what i really need is just to get the game going in full screen. Any ideas?

Check into the first answer vitamin gave you about xrandr.

yes, i have followed his advice as soon as he posted, but the output i got was :

Screen 0: minimum 320 x 240, current 1680 x 1050, maximum 1680 x 1050
default connected 1680x1050+0+0 0mm x 0mm
1680x1050 50.0* 51.0
1600x1024 52.0
1440x900 53.0
1360x768 54.0 55.0
1280x1024 56.0
1280x960 57.0
1152x864 58.0
1024x768 59.0
960x600 60.0
960x540 61.0
840x525 62.0 63.0
800x600 64.0 65.0
800x512 66.0
720x450 67.0
700x525 68.0
680x384 69.0 70.0
640x512 71.0
640x480 72.0 73.0
576x432 74.0
512x384 75.0
400x300 76.0
320x240 77.0

Which seems to be normal?

am i supposed to lower my resolution of the desktop, and then run the game ? So that both of them match ?

You sure that game supports wide screen resolution?
