The terminal doesn't give me problems, but a window pops up that says:

Run-time error '429':

ActiveX component can't create object.

The terminal doesn't tell me anything.

vitamin means - start terminal, cd to app dir, and start it from the
terminal (wine appname.exe) - and post everything that will be written to
the terminal by wine

OK, well the file is an installer, it runs the installer. I instlled the program good with no problems. In the terminal it said

fixme:shell:DllCanUnloadNow stub

Ok, when I try to run the installed program from the terminal it says nothing. All I get is the same message in a little pop up window. What do I do to fix it?

"Run-time error '429'"

Post by RDMatWineHQ »

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/828550

the above link i found using the Yahoo search engine to search for mention in the internet of the "run-time error 429".

The text at that Microsoft advisory website suggests a few possible causes of that particular error message, one of which is a missing CLSID registry entry for the affected application. Perhaps, with luck, that might be all that be ailing your application under wine?

i don't run it from the terminal. I run it from the programs menu in the wine menu in the applications menu from my desktop. I drop down the app menu, then select wine, which has a program folder, in that is the file.

Then run it from the terminal and post complete output here, including the exact command you used to start it with.

Then you have to ask your distro channel since you seems to be using broken Wine version.

For the error you have Wine will print several messages in the terminal. If you don't see any then whomever made you package broke it.
