Re: [Wine] Developpers vs users
I know the whole controversy regarding the forum gateway and such.
However, even if those who enabled the gateway feel that it is so
important, at least turn off reject messages to posts from the mailing
list. I don't use the forum, and I don't care what has been rejected
or accepted. This is no better than challenge-response email filters
that spam some mailing lists with each post.

Get rid of the reject messages.

That's silly. Imagine there is no reject message, then someone
posting to the thread will spam everyone else about why his post
didn't show up in the ML or the forum.

My message did go to the mailing list, just not to the forum. Since I
sent it to the mailing list, that is where I care that it should go. I
really don't care if the related forum thread is locked, in fact, why
should a thread that is meant to archive a mailing list locked in the
first place? The incompetence of a forum admin should not affect
mediums other than the forum itself.

The fact that this meta-discussion is even taking place shows that
resources are being wasted in a manner that is not productive.

It's Sunday :) It's OK to take a break and participate in pointless arguments.

Okay, I have disabled the reject messages from the mailing list.

What does this mean?

If you reply to a forum locked thread via the mailing list from this point on, it will still be sent to the mailing list, but it will be silently dropped from the Forum gateway.

I know this will fragment the two a bit, but it will at least not annoy our subscribers.

Forum Moderators: please be aware of this. If you are going to lock a thread, please write a message so the mailing list subscribers are aware of it.
