I downloaded and installed the newest Wine and Bordeaux. I tried to reinstall Quicken. It said it would have to remove the old version first. It died during the uninstall process. Try to re-install gives same message.

The Quicken 2008 - Install Wizard reports:

Quicken Failed to install - Exit Code 1627.

There is tons of Quicken stuff left in the registry. I wished I had saved a registry....

Try in a clean WINEPREFIX.

Where your applications/settings are stored. By default ~/.wine. Try
removing/renaming it and reinstall.

This worked just fine. Quicken installed very nicely. Now, however, the programs loads and asked for a data file to open, when you select one and click OK, the program begins to go to the next screen then shuts down. Wonder what could cause that?

How many times do I have to ask for terminal output?

Can't help without that.

Will give it a try. However the winetricks did allow that part of the program to run. It now freezes at the point you try to register the program. It would not respect the wine internet explorer, so i used winetricks to do the fake, then to actually install ie6. Ie6 is missing the menu bar. It also does not repond properly to Quicken's attempt to register the program. Without being able to register, you cannot use any of the online stuff.

I launch Quicken
Then click Help > Register Quicken

Here's where it gets.

Apparently not, you're log still shows it using builtin IE6.

Please upgrade to 1.1.13, preferably with a clean ~/.wine, before
posting any more questions.

Perhaps you should take this up with the Bordeaux people.
Alternately, you could test without Bordeaux and with the latest
vanilla wine from winehq.org.

That was my bad...didn't check fixed, and didn't check git log. My apologies.

I wonder if Quickbooks Pro shows similar bugs? We just got copies at
work, might have to test one of them...

Quickbooks Pro has its own set of problems. It's quite popular,
IIRC, so it'd be worth the effort. (Check the appdb and
bugzilla for history.)

quicken 2008 Deluxe disappears when data is loaded

Post by kahunah »

quicken 2008 deluxe Release9 running on Ubuntu
I was able to install the application and run it upto the point that one either creates accounts or loads a previously created data file (in windows). At that point, the entire application disappears and one is back to the Ubuntu desktop.

Has anyone come up with a solution to this problem?

Please visit the Applications Database. I don't think that Quicken 2008
will run completely in Wine, but there is an entry for Quicken and all
of its various releases.

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... &iId=12309

Is the AppDb page for Quicken 2008 Premier and the program is rated
Bronze. This means that some functions may not work or that you have to
use Windows XP .dll files.
