I've got this game (that I own in its original release, is not pirated BTW), and I'd like to play it on the steam Deck.
Im new to Wine so perhaps the way I've set it up isn't the best, but this is what I did:
1. I took my Windows PC and installed the game, then copied all installed files and transferred to my Steam Deck.
2. I also made ISOs of the two game CDs and copied them into the Steam deck.
3. I added the game executable to steam
4. I configured Steam to use proton
5. I tried running it directly, and it requested I introduce CD 1.
6. Used protontricks to run winecfg, set up a CD-ROM drive and pointed it to a folder with the extracted files from CD1.
7. Tried running the game again, but it won't recognize the CD-ROM still.
I mounted the ISO in the windows computer, and the game ran on the first attempt, so I don't think it's a copy protection issue. I checked the registry on the windows computer but there is no entry for this game, and I can't also find any local files that might have a setting pointing at the right CD-ROM drive letter...
It feels like it just won't recognize Wine's virtual drive as a real drive for some reason.
Perhaps there is a step that im missing here?
Wine Virtual drive not being recognized
Re: Wine Virtual drive not being recognized
any ideas?
Re: Wine Virtual drive not being recognized
Ask on the Steam forum; proton is not supported here.
